It was a tough Friday (11/9) night for both the Warhawk Varsity and JV squads. Despite an intense, hard fought game, the varsity were edged out 2-3 by Yorktown. After a scoreless first period, Yorktown took the lead half-way into the second. The Warhawks would not be denied and tied it up at the end of the second with a goal from senior Luke Pohlman assisted by freshman Leo Steiner. Continuing their offensive drive and successfully handling a 3-5 penalty kill, the Warhawks took the lead 5 minutes into the third with a goal from junior Tom Hetherington assisted by junior Keegan Sweeney. Unfortunately, things turned against the Warhawks as Yorktown managed to tie it up with 3 minutes left and squeak in a winning goal in final 48 seconds. The Madison/McLean "Warlanders" JV also had a tough evening, falling 0-3 against a large Battlefield squad. The Warlanders, managed to hold even with Battlefield until the final 7 seconds of the first when Battlefield scored on a break-away. Despite being outshot over 2-1, the Warlanders limited Battlefield to just 1 additional goal in the 2nd and another in the third.
