Highlander JV Holds Steady in 1st But Falls to Broad Run/Briar Woods 1-8

The McLean/Madison JV came out strong against Broad Run/Briar Woods and tied a hard hitting first period 0-0. Unfortunately the Highlander squad was not able to withstand stepped up pressure from the Spartan/Falcon offense in the 2nd. With a quick series of goals from the Spartans/Falcons, the Highlanders fell behind 0-5. Determined to prevent a shutout, the Highlander squad managed to slow the pace of scoring from the Spartan/Falcon squad and generate some scoring opportunities of their own. Freshman Zach Helfant finally was able to get the Highlanders on the boards with just 3 minutes left. He was assisted by freshmen Yaz Aloul and Susannah Hogan.
