The Warhawk Varsity squad prevailed over Bishop Ireton 2-1 in their second NVSHL league game. Determined to get an edge on the Cardinals, Warhawk senior and team captain, Kamron Sarmadi led the charge, skating end to end, out smarting multiple Cardinal defenders and putting the Warhawks on the board just 1 minute into the first period. The Cardinals answered back not long after, tying the game up 1-1 half way through the 1st. An intense battle ensued in the 2nd with the Cardinals offense hammering senior Warhawk goalie Dean Kern with a barrage of shots from all angles. Dean managed to deny the Cardinals a goal despite a 2-0 break-away attack and point blank series of shots. Near the end of the second, sophomore Sammy Thompson moved the Warhawks back into the lead with a quick shot from the slot, assisted by sophomore Jeffrey Hunter and junior Jason Calem. Despite stepped up pressure from Cardinals, the Warhawks defense held strong and kept the 3rd period score-less. With their 2-0 record the Warhawks are currently leading the Adams division of NVSHL.
