The Warhawks defeated the Langley Saxons 5-2 to pick up their 5th straight win. Madison struck first with an unassisted goal from forward Preston Cain early in the first period. Preston would strike again in the 1st period, assisted by defenseman Justin Machovina. The Saxons would tally 2 goals in the first period but the Warhawks shut down the Langley scoring opportunities for the remainder of the game. Additional Warhawk goals would come from forward Matt Hetherington, assisted by Jeff Hunter late in the 1st period. Forward George Bilidas, assisted by defenseman TJ Ezzard would score early in the 2nd period and team Captain Luke Pohlman would score the game’s final goal midway thru the 3rd period. The Warhawks were plagued with a rash of penalties in the 3rd including a 5 on 3, however special teams did their job and shut down the scoring opportunities. Goalie Ben D’Haiti stopped 12 the Saxons shots with the Warhawks putting 36 shots on net.
Madison faces the undefeated Chantilly Chargers next Friday, January 11 at 7:55pm at Reston Skatequest.
