The Warhawks dominated the Oakton Cougars 4-0 earning town bragging rights. The Warhawks maintained presence in Oakton’s offensive zone thru all 3 periods holding the Cougars to 15 shots. Madison saw goals from 4 separate players, with the 1st period goal coming from defenseman Zack Helfant, assisted by forward Hayden Winkleman. Max Marr scored an unassisted goal in the 2nd period, his first NVSHL goal. The 3rd period had goals by forward Preston Cain assisted by Matt Hetherington and late in the 3rd by forward Tom Hetherington assisted by defenseman Nick Willey. The Warhawks unloaded 27 shots on Oakton’s net and goalie Ben D’Haiti earned his first shutout this season, turning away all 15 of the Cougars shots.
The Warhawks face the Langley Saxons Friday January 4th at Reston Skatequest at 6:10pm.
