The Warhawks battled to a 2-2 tie against the McLean Highlanders in their 2015/16 season opener on Fri 11/6. The first period was a stalemate until freshman Luke Pohlman got the Warhawks on the scoreboard with only seconds left in the period by blasting in a shot from the point, assisted by juniors Kamron Sarmadi and Mike Gros. Congratulations to Luke on his first NVSHL goal. Strong goal tending from junior Dean Kern thwarted multiple odd man rushes from the Highlanders during the 2nd period but they eventually managed to sneak one in and tie it up. The Warhawks responded with increased pressure and a barrage of shots culminating in a goal from junior Kamron Sarmadi, assisted by junior Alex Tudan. In the third, the Warhawks held on to their one point lead and kept up the pressure, but with just 1:21 left and a defensive scramble in front of the Warhawk's net, the Highlanders were able to knock in a rebound and deny the Warhawks a victory. The Warhawks next game is Fri 12/4 at 10:30pm in Haymarket against Facquier.
